Casual Dress Charity Day

Each Friday is Casual Dress Charity Day at Westnet, where the whole team is able to come to work in their casual gear in exchange for a donation to the chosen weekly charity.

A different team chooses the charity each week and collects the donations. This week was the Credit Team’s turn.

His Majesty’s Theatre

His Majesty’s Theatre Foundation was established in 1993 to preserve and enhance His Majesty’s Theatre as one of Australia’s great theatrical landmarks through the support of donations and sponsorship. His Majesty’s Theatre is one of Perth’s most-loved heritage icons.

The Foundation is also committed to supporting Community Service Programmes within the theatre, including MajKidz, Lunchtime Concerts and Morning Melodies.

MajKidz is an exciting interactive programme of theatre workshops for children aged 10 to 12 years. Held once a month on a Saturday morning from 9.30am to 12.30pm, kids learn how to produce a live theatre piece while developing creativity and self-esteem. This is not an acting school so it is also perfect for shy kids who have a keen interest in live theatre!

Check out some great photos of the early His Majesty’s Theatre here.

This week the Credit Team raised $328.20 in donations, an excellent effort. Thanks to all staff who donated!

In the past, Westnet has supported many different charities through the Casual Dress Day initiative, with an average of $350 raised each week. Check out this list of charities supported in just the last year, with the total amount raised coming to over $13,000.

Amanda Young Foundation, Anglicare, Asian Rhinos, Assistance Dogs, Association for the Blind, Asthma Foundation, Cancer Council, CanTeen, Carbon Neutral, CARE Australia, Charity Link, Cystic Fibrosis, Diabetes Australia, Freedom Centre, GeekCorps, Greening Australia, Heart Foundation, Jack Day Trust, Lifelink, McDonalds, Movember, Multiple Sclerosis WA, PBF Australia, Perth Zoo, PMH Foundation, Priceline, RSPCA, Surf Life Saving WA, The Big Issue, The Making a Difference Ride, Unicef, Variety WA, WA Deaf Society, Wildlife Warriors, WSPA, Young Care and Youth off the Streets.

The Jack Day Trust deserves a special mention, with staff raising around $700 back in March for this brave and wonderful little boy. A special thank-you letter was received only yesterday from Jack’s dad, Jeremy, addressed to the entire staff at Westnet.

It really gives the staff at Westnet a great sense of achievement knowing their spare change can go towards helping such a great variety of charities over the course of the year. Watch this space next week to find out which charity we add to the ever growing list.

    Hi James

That’s actually not a bad idea. I know it was mentioned once in the past to do something like this, I might mention it to the marketing team again and see if there’s any possibility of doing something in the future.
